The new way of estimating roofing cost

Blues Brothers Construction roofing company is moving into the future with an innovative software technology of estimating the cost of a new roof. How this works is a complicated series of intricate calculations which gives us the edge over almost all other roofing contractor’s. First, we will take the address of the property to obtain a satellite image of the roof. Next, our trained staff takes the satellite image and determines the correlation between the image size and actual size to provide the exact calculations of the roof dimensions. We then take the roof measurements and input them into our software.

How the software works from here is very complex and a special secret but we will give a brief explanation to help you understand the process. How a roofing contractor comes up with an estimate for a new roof is based on 4 major cost factors; the first being dump cost which is calculated based on the type and size of your roof. Second, is material cost which is the most complicated formula; it is based on the type of roof being installed, the underlayment chosen, style of roof attachment, and the type of building code being used. Third, is labor cost which is calculated based on the type and size of your roof. Fourth, is the permit cost that will be based on the municipality where the property is located and the total cost of the contract. Fifth, is our overhead & profit which is based on the total of all 4 major cost factors plus 15%; which is below the industry standard of of 30%.

Finally, the software will create your estimate based on the dimensions and the specifications by the manufacture of the type of roof you want to install. Depending on the roof chosen at the time, rebates and tax credits will automatically factor into your estimate and reduce the total cost of your roof. By using this technology our estimates are usually less then our competitors since we know the exact cost of the job before the job is even started which leaves no room for hidden surprises!!!!

Inspecting Your Roof Before Hurricane Season

Who can forget hurricane Katrina and all the destruction it created in New Orleans? Certainly, no one wants to be a victim of a devastating hurricane. That's why we should employ early preparations in order to keep our house standing after a hurricane hits. Our first focus should be the roof since it has more exposure and receives the most force.

You should always get your roof inspected by a roofing contractor just before hurricane season, preferably in early summer. Also, you should conduct your own roof inspection after each severe storm. In particular, take note if there are any loose shingles or tiles and if so, fix or replace them immediately. Always make sure that roof panels are safely attached to the house so that strong winds don't peel them off and toss them out.

If anything at all looks amiss, call Blues Brothers CC and let us have a look at your roof. Don’t wait for government warnings before you prepare your house for a hurricane. By promptly inspecting your roof and preparing weeks before the hurricane season, you would save yourself from potential damages that might leave you with expensive repairs.

Am I Ready For a Solar Power Roof System?

Solar energy, the future of alternative energy, provides great benefits on a roof. However, not all roofs work well with solar energy roofing systems. Here, you will find some of the factors you need to take into consideration when choosing a solar roofing solution:

1. Roof Age
If it has been more than 15 years since anyone has worked on your roof, you should let a roofing contractor specialist take a quick look. Solar panels have a great lifespan thus make sure any home improvements on your roof is made before the actual installation.

2. Roof Direction
Solar panels get maximum sunlight exposure when placed facing South in the Northern Hemisphere, thus in order to be most effective you should place your solar panels in this direction. If your house is facing East or West it can still generate solar power. A roofing contractor will alert you if your house is in this category.

3. Roof Type
In general, most roofs support solar panels. The easiest roof type to work is a composite shingle roof. The most difficult roof type to work is the wood-shake roofs. You should hire a roof contractor with many years of experience with solar roofs and who are well educated in the types of roofs that support solar solutions.

4. Space Available
Usually, solar panels take about 1 square foot of space for every 10 watts generated. What does this mean? If you want 5,000 watts produced by your panels, you’ll need about 500 square feet of available space on your roof. Always make sure you have plenty of space for the amount of solar power you want to produce. Also, take into account that you can considerably lower your utility bill even with a smaller solar roof system.

Don't fret if your home doesn't meet some of these factors. Blues Brothers CC will work with you if your roof is less-than-ideal. We have many years of experience serving the South Florida community and many satisfied customers.

Guide To Hiring A Reliable Roofer

Many experts claim the average life of a roof is around fifteen years. If your roof is under this age, but you are having problems, it will most likely be repaired instead of having to install a new one. However, if your roof exceeds the fifteen years, you most probably will need to install a new roof. A roofing contractor should be employed to handle either repairs or new roof installs.

Always get recommendations from friends and family before hiring a roofing contractor. Also, get several quotes before determining the roofing contractor to hire. A quote should include the work to be done, time-frame for completion and cost.

Make sure to check how long the roofer has been in business. Give preference to roofing contractors with many years of experience. Also, roofers should be properly insured. Always ask for proof of insurance to be sure you are protected from any damage to your home.

Roofing repairs can be expensive and a new roof is a major investment. You should hire the roofer who has the best combination of experience and price and with whom you feel most comfortable. Blues Brothers CC is a reliable Florida Roof Contractor fully licensed and insured. We have over 25 years in the business and hundreds of satisfied customers. We treat every job as if it were our own home we were working on and our fully trained roofers take great pride in their craftsmanship.

When Is The Right Time to Hire a Roofing Specialist?

Here are some of the common factors for room damage leading to leaks: weathering, improper maintenance and design, and wind damage. But, why wait until the damage is done? Roof maintenance should be performed once a year. You'll want to do this when the weather is clear and always before the rainy season.

One should hire a roofing specialist to get the roof repaired before the leaks damage the ceilings and the walls. With over 25 years of experience in the business, Blues Brothers CC is one of the leading roofing specialists serving South Florida, supplying residential and commercial roofing solutions throughout Miami Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
